Gazprom EP International sponsors the “Oil and Gas — 2021” Forum

For the third time Gazprom EP International becomes a strategic sponsor of the “Oil and Gas — 2021” International Forum held in Moscow from 26 to 30 April at the National University of Oil and Gas “Gubkin University” (the Gubkin University). This year the Forum knit together the XIV All-Russian Scientific-Technical Conference “Actual problems of the development of the oil and gas industry of Russia” and the 75th International Youth Scientific Conference “Oil and Gas — 2021”.

The Forum addressed a wide range of issues related to the exploration and development of oil and gas fields, transportation, storage and processing of hydrocarbons, automation and digitalization of production processes, industrial, environmental and information security in the fuel and energy sector, personnel training, etc.

Sergey Tumanov, Managing Director of Gazprom EP International, greeted the participants: “It is a great honor and a unique opportunity for us to contribute to the motivation among the younger generation in the oil and gas sector. Graduates of the University working in the Gazprom EP International Group around the world develop international projects, discover new fields, ensure energy security and promote the economic growth of partner countries, increase the status and authority of Russian specialized education.”

An important part of the business program this year was the panel discussion “Automation and digitalization in the oil and gas industry”, attended by experts from the production unit of the Gazprom EP International branch in St. Petersburg. Rostislav Gupalov, an expert of the Oil and Gas Production Division, reported on the “Practical experience in using machine learning algorithms to optimize the timing of well construction for the Gazprom EP International projects”. Ksenia Frolova, a Drilling Division expert, talked about the functional capabilities of the System of Production Facilities Monitoring (SPFM) digital platform, a co-development of Gazprom EP International and Technos-K. Both speakers are the Gubkin University alumni.

Also, the Forum saw a face-to-face stage of the V All-Russian competition “The best scientific student association of oil and gas universities in Russia” among young employees of enterprises, organizations and educational institutions of the oil and gas industry. Grigory Kuropatkin, the head of the Drilling Division of the company's St. Petersburg branch, was among the jury evaluating the works of the competitors.

This year, the scientific site of the Gubkin University gathered more than two thousand experts, young scientists and students from 420 Russian and foreign universities, industry organizations and government bodies. Annually, the Forum hosts themed round tables, trainings, educational events, and intellectual tournaments.

BACKGROUND:


The Gubkin University is a multifunctional public higher-educational institution. Since 2010, it has enjoyed the position of a national research university. It includes 12 faculties, a military training center, a campus, as well as 2 branches (in Orenburg and in Tashkent, Republic of Uzbekistan).

The total number of students including the branches amounts to 10 thousand students.
The university provides education for about 1300 foreign students from 56 countries including China, Vietnam, Venezuela, Bolivia, Nigeria, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Belarus.

Cooperation of Gazprom EP International with the Russian State University named after I.M. Gubkin encompasses several directions: organization of internships for VNG Petrovietnam employees at the production facilities of the Gazprom Group, support to training for VNG Petrovietnam employees in their postgraduate studies at the university, organization of training for Bolivian students under the specialist program «Oil and Gas Engineering and Technologies», preparation of target students for the joint master's program of the Gubkin University and Leoben University (Austria) “Advanced technologies for the construction and operation of oil and gas wells” with subsequent employment in the Company, training of Gazprom EP International employees within the framework of the advanced training programs of the Center for Innovative Competencies.
