On 17-18 February 2020, in Saint Petersburg, Gazprom International Training, a special purpose entity of Gazprom EP International for personnel training, certification and development, held a seminar entitled Gas Storage and Swing Contracts for the heads and experts of the Gazprom Group subsidiaries.
The course was presented and moderated by Dr. Cyriel de Jong, Founder and Director at KYOS Energy Consulting, who is a recognized global expert on price modelling, financial methodologies to value energy assets and contracts.
He offered the audience insights into modern methods and instruments used globally to enter into international contracts for energy supply and storage.
The seminar participants addressed the matters related to the European gas markets and trading hubs overview, pricing and international contract structure. They also examined the market situations and applied the most efficient instruments for energy assessment during case studies.
The seminar aimed at introducing flexible market regulation tools, assessment drivers, risk factors for investment portfolio management and international energy trading strategies.
“The seminar has revealed great interest to this topic. So we have decided to provide the Gazprom Group employees with a continuous updatability of their information and awareness of the modern instruments for asset valuation and management”, said Robertus Veersma, Director for Training at Gazprom International Training, after the seminar. “For this purpose we have initiated launching of an interactive online demo system with examples and cases that will allow to continue training on swing at the world markets without leaving the workplace”.
According to him, it was of paramount importance to involve in the program a broad audience of the Gazprom Group trading and contracting experts in the energy and finance sectors.
