The delegation of Gazprom International headed by Managing Director, Valery Gulev, on 18-19 March visited the office of Sonatrach, the Algerian state-owned oil and gas company, where it was received by President of the company, Abdelhamid Zerguine.
The Russian delegation included Deputy Managing Director of Gazprom International, Aleksey Shebarshin, Director of the Gazprom International Branch in Algeria, Sergey Panferov, and Director of the Gazprom Representative Office in Algeria, Andrey Pestov. From the Sonatrach side, along with the President, the delegation was met by First Deputy General Director for Exploration and Production, Said Sahnoun, Executive Director for Associations, Kamil Eddin Shikhi, Deputy Director General for Product Commercialization and Marketing, Yamina Hamdi, and Executive Director for Subsidiary Companies & Participations, Akli Remini.
During the meeting, Mr. Zerguine thanked the Russian delegation for the visit and spoke in favour of expansion of the cooperation between the two companies. "Being the largest companies operating in the region, Sonatrach and Gazprom are not only competitors but, on the contrary, are successfully working on the principles of mutually beneficial cooperation," said the head of Sonatrach.
Mr. Zerguine also expressed the interest in expansion of the cooperation between the companies not only in Algeria but also in both Russia and third countries.
Mr. Gulev, for his part, informed Sonatrach management about the changes in the company’s structure, noting that Gazprom International is the sole operator of Gazprom international projects in hydrocarbon exploration and production.
He pointed out the attention paid by Gazprom to projects in Algeria and emphasized the possibility to intensify and expand areas of cooperation with Sonatrach, in particular in the oil services segment.
Mr. Gulev agreed with Mr. Zerguine's proposal to consider the possibility of implementation of new joint projects in both Algeria and other countries.
